Bournemouth
University
Bournemouth is a modern
University, with seven distinctive schools of study - each reflecting
a major area of economic growth in the world today and offering courses
aimed at preparing you for the future.
The Institute of Health
and Community Studies (IHCS) is one of the University´s seven academic schools.
They are a major provider of professional and vocational education, research
and consultancy in the fields of health and social care. The Institute
collaborates closely with care services in Dorset and throughout the South
West.
Their aim is to prepare students for the challenging task of improving the
health and well being of the communities in which they live and work.
Academic Services supports the whole University in learning and teaching,
research and administration. The department operates as a converged
service, which integrates library, learner support and media service
functions. The department has two very clear purposes: to provide
an essential set of services to support students and staff in their learning,
research and general work, and to work with colleagues throughout the University
to promote the general mission and strategic plan.
The Library Service involvement in the production of British Nursing Index
exemplifies these two purposes.
